Include symposium gathered British and Norwegian researchers

Include's British partner, Durham University, hosted the symposium titled "Climate Emergency! Energy Crisis!". The participants presented a broad spectre of the centre's ongoing research.

Professor Simone Abram, head of Include's research team at Durham University, opened the symposium.

Most of Include's research takes place in Norway, with researchers from five Norwegian research institutions and in collaboration with our 23 Norwegian partners. The international branch of Include consists of a group of researchers at Durham University. Their research asks many of the same questions as the Norwegian projects, with a focus on energy justice and the role of local authorities in energy transition.

Hence, there was much to talk about when Include researchers from both sides of the North Sea met. Ideas and experiences were exchanged, including the transition to electric vehicles and actions against fuel poverty.  Check out the symposium website for more about the programme.

In line with Include's environmental strategy, all participants from Norway who had the opportunity took the train from Oslo to Durham, via the Channel Tunnel. In the Norwegian delegation, there were a total of ten PhD candidates. On the second day of the symposium, they had a separate session, together with fellows from Durham University.
