In her lecture, Dr. Goldberg will delve into several key topics surrounding globalization. These include the trajectory of globalization and its response to the 2008–2009 financial crisis, its persistence amid the COVID-19 pandemic, recent shifts in public sentiment and government policies in major economies like the United States and Great Britain, the underlying causes of these changes such as growing inequalities and trade pressures, and the role of crises in health and geopolitics in shaping the globalization landscape. Additionally, she will explore potential consequences on growth, inequality, poverty reduction, climate change, and resilience.
In-person attendants will be invited free of charge to Gamle Festsal at the University of Oslo, in the historic Domus Academica (built 1852) to hear the lecture. Afterwards, guests will be invited to a reception at Domus Bibliotheca, where complimentary food and drinks will be offered to encourage discussion of the lecture.
