REDD in Comparative Perspective: Local and National Governance Issues (completed)

The research is concerned with people whose livelihoods are based largely on the forest and who are therefore affected by the new global initiative - REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).

About the project

This project focuses particulary on issues of governance, at a local, national and global level. A number of countries are included, especially Indonesia and Tanzania, but also in the Aamazon, and the research draws on different disciplines: anthropology, political economy and ecology.

The project has received seed-funding from LEVE.

Collaboration with staff and students at the University Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
