Geological resources and sustainable development - learning to live in a finite world

Lead researcher: Clara Sena, Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo

This is a Norway/Brazil cooperation project in higher education in Geosciences with a focus on the extraction of geological resources, consumption patterns and sustainable development. This project offers exchange students the possibility to do courses and internships in UFPA (Brazil) and University of Oslo (Norway), and an intensive field-course in the Amazon Region, for Norwegian and Brazilian students.

Norsk Hydro, with a bauxite mining facility in Paragominas (Pará), is a network partner. This project will produce site-specific knowledge and train the students in skills that are valuable to all project partners.
