Asianettverket Annual MA Course 2021

Are you writing your master's thesis on an Asia related topic? Would you like to meet other students doing the same, as well as receive feedback on your work?

Asianettverket is organising its annual course for MA students in December and anyone writing about Asia is welcome to join.

Course content

The course consists of a combination of inspiring lectures by the course leaders and the students' own presentations of their MA projects. The students will receive detailed comments on their projects, both from the course leaders and the other participants.

The course is free and open for students across the country. It is also possible to apply for travel grants if you are traveling far. You are welcome to join no matter how far you are in the writing process.

Thea Marie Valler is a PhD candidate at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, NTNU, focusing on the platformization of urban transport in Beijing. She has also conducted fieldwork in rural and urban China at Bachelor and Master levels. Previously, she has worked as a trainee at the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore.

Kaja Berg Hjukse is a PhD Fellow in Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo. Based on ethnographic fieldwork in Upper Myanmar from 2018 to 2019, her PhD thesis uses marriage as a lens to explore the relationship between women’s mental health and wider socio-political processes in transitional Myanmar. Kaja’s other research interests include, but are not limited to, childbirth, care, health systems, and Buddhism.
