– Det ga mening å bruke bistandsmidler til å finansiere Cepi, siden sykdommene Cepi fokuserte på hovedsakelig berørte lavinntektsland og skulle sikre dem tilgang. Med covid-19 er jo situasjonen en ganske annen – her er det snakk om en sykdom som har kommet til lavinntektslandene fra Kina via Europa, og hvor det er høyinntektsland som USA, Italia og Storbritannia som hittil har vært sterkest rammet, sier Storeng.

As concern about coronavirus grows, three Washington-based think tanks are proposing that the G7 launch a new health security fund, managed by the World Bank, to help poor countries cope with a possible future pandemic. A researcher in Oslo warns that such a fund would further fragment the complicated global health architecture and weaken the World Health Organisation.
