Working title: True, good, correct or useful – the role of natural science in political documents on sustainable development in Norway
Are there ethical implications resulting from the use of varying designations from the natural sciences? Through a discourse analysis of extracts from the Official Norwegian Report NOU 2005: 5, "Enkle signaler i en kompleks verden. Forslag til et nasjonalt indikatorsett for bærekraftig utvikling", this issue is explored. Main ethical perspectives, as they appear in today’s popular science books regarding environmental issues, are considered.
In addition, the possibility of these designations influencing power relation, hence development, is discussed based on the results from this analysis.
