LEVE Seminar: Coping with Mental Health Disorders in Post Conflict Settings of Northern Uganda

In this seminar researchers will share experiences of mental health issues from several countries to develop strategies for identifying, enhancing, and improving different services and research that are appropriate for people to cope with mental health disorders after the civil war in Northern Uganda.

Objectives of the seminar

  • To discuss collaborations and networking aimed at identifying, enhancing, and improving different services and research that are appropriate for people to cope with mental health disorders after the war.
  • To discuss how certain services, individuals and institutions formal and informal are used, and how they positively or negatively contribute to coping with mental health disorders.
  • To explore to what extent service providers and other actors are prepared to meet the needs of people with mental health disorders, needs of their families and other related illnesses/issues.
  • After the seminar draft a grand development and service delivery proposal with a research component which will be submitted to various funding agencies including the Norwegian research council, NUF etc.
