Jennifer Schirmer interviewed about Guatemala's former dictator facing trial on genocide charges

Schirmer was interviewed by Melissa Block of National Public Radio in Washington on January 30th. The interview topic was the impending trial of former Guatemalan dictator Efrain Rios Montt on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.

Rios Montt is held responsible for a scorched-earth campaign of mass murder, rape and terror in the Guatemalan highlands during his 17 month long regime in 1982 and '83. The 85 year-old former dictator stepped down as congressman on January 14th, thereby losing his immunity. By January 26th he was being brought into court.
