MILEN Research School Event: Ethics seminar-series 2012
The 2012 edition of this series features Prof. Brian Wynne (Lancaster University and TIK-centre UiO), Trond Gärtner (Statkraft) and Asbjørn Torvanger (CICERO). Göran Sundvist (TIK) is responsible for this seminar series.
In today’s technological development, technological concerns and ethical concerns meld into each other. Most energy technologies have a need to display a combined technological and ethical commitment to addressing the negative externalities they generate. These combined technological and ethical commitments are about visions that set out a positive way forward, where technological development and ethical practice are co-produced in the shaping of new territories of positive expectations for the future. This is today well known to those who design technologies but it is not always discussed openly and shown in a transparent way. Important is also to ask how this double challenge could be improved, and who should be engaged and in what ways.
