Film and debate: Even the Crows: A Divided Gujarat
In this 2014 documentary, British-Gujarati filmmaker sisters Sheena and Sonum Sumaria explore a minority community's struggle for justice amid the rise of Hindu nationalism and a corrupt government.
Oslo Documentary Cinema (Oslo dokumentarkino), The Network for Asian Studies (Asianettverket) and Indologisk studentforening invite you to a debate and a screening of the documentary "Even the Crows: A Divided Gujarat." “Even the Crows” has been called an extraordinary and bold documentary film, “A must see for all those concerned with contemporary Indian politics and the dangerous contemporary rise of Hindu nationalism” (Dr. Alessandra Mezzadri, SOAS). The movie looks at the ongoing struggle for justice for the victims after the Gujarat 2002 riots, and the role that the Indian government has played in the violence and the rise of Hindu nationalism in India and abroad.
