Network for Asian Studies

The network was founded in 1996 and is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is led by a group of Asianists in Norway, and is based at the Centre for Development and the Environment, University of Oslo.

The Network:

• organizes academically stimulating conferences, seminars, and lectures, and promotes contact between disciplines and institutions.
• encourages recruitment to Asian research through the development of academic courses and research seminars.
• encourages academic cooperation between researchers and research institutions in the Asian region.

The network does not carry out its own research, but promotes research activities in the Asian region.
