Network for Asian Studies
The Network for Asian Studies is a Norwegian research network which promotes studies, research, and information about Asian history, society, culture, politics and the environment.
The network was founded in 1996 and is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is led by a group of Asianists in Norway, and is based at the Centre for Development and the Environment, University of Oslo.
The Network:
- organizes academically stimulating conferences, seminars, and lectures, and promotes contact between disciplines and institutions.
- encourages recruitment to Asian research through the development of academic courses and research seminars.
- encourages academic cooperation between researchers and research institutions in the Asian region.
The network does not carry out its own research, but promotes research activities in the Asian region.
